Commercialization of Bambara Nut Production in Nigeria

The global population increases daily, which requires a considerable increase in food production. Bambara nut is an important staple crop capable of supplying essential nutrients to the body and providing farmers with income, yet it underutilized. This study, therefore, assessed commercialization production Nigeria enhance availability. Primary data were gathered from 240 respondents analysed using descriptive statistics, household index (HCI), Tobit model. results revealed that mean HCI was 56%, indicating there exists gap 44% for reach full commercialization. Access credit, size, age, farming experience, quantity fertilizer, farm output, distance market significant factors influencing degree Inadequate access credit/loan facilities, long-distance market, high cost inputs, poor road network transport produce, incidence pests diseases militating constraints study advocates provision credit by government financial institutions, improve their endeavours.
